V.M.T.A. Ride Guidelines

  1. Ride in staggered formation.
  2. If the situation warrants the ride captain will divide the group into two groups for the safety of all.
  3. Each rider must watch out for others.
  4. Maintain proper following distances to prevent the “yo-yo” or accordion effect.
  5. Never pull out of formation for any reason other than an emergency without first advising the ride captain.
  6. In the event of a breakdown only one other rider will stop with the disabled bike while the rest of the group proceeds to the next available stopping area.
  7. Using the CB radio the drag or the “tail gunner” keeps the rest of the group informed of traffic approaching from the rear.
  8. All riders shall keep his unit advised of oncoming traffic and road conditions.
  9. Obey cities and town’s speed limits.  This helps keep a good image of motorcycle riders.
  10. The ride captain will start at a slower but safe speed to allow the group to come together and then set the speed no higher than posted on the road.
  11. Ultimately safety is every person’s (rider and passenger’s) responsibility.
