Constitution of the Valley Motorcycle Touring
Association
Article 1
The club shall be known as the Valley Motorcycle
Touring Association
Article 2
Active members shall be any person or spouse who is
the registered owner of record of a motorcycle. Only active members
shall be entitled to vote on club
affairs.
Article 3
The officers of the club shall be limited to a
President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Road Riding
Chairman and Public Relation/ After Market Coordinator; these
officers shall constitute the Board of
Directors.
Article 4
The duties of the President shall
be:
To preside at all meetings of the
club.
To have general supervision of the
affairs of the club.
To appoint any person or committee not
otherwise ordered by the club
To assist all other officers of the club
in their records, correspondence and other
duties.
To promote interest on the part of each
member in club life and
activities
To vote only when necessary to break a
tie.
Article 5
The duties of the Vice President shall
be:
To perform the duties of the president in
his absence.
To serve as Safety
Officer.
To perform other duties as the President
may direct.
Article 6
The duties of the Secretary shall
be:
To record the minutes of special and
regular meetings.
To read the minutes of the previous
meeting.
To send out notices of regular or special
meetings.
To handle all club
correspondence.
To Perform such other duties as generally
fall to that of an officer.
Article 7
The duties of Treasurer shall
be:
To collect dues from all the
members.
To collect all the moneys due the club.To
maintain a checking account for the
club.
To maintain receipts and/or canceled
checks on all club
expenditures.
To give a monthly Treasurer’s
Report.
Article 8
The duties of the Road Riding Chairman shall
be:
To plan all club tours, rides,
activities, etc.
To lead or designate a leader for club
formation riding or parades.
To arouse interest in
activities.
To assist in handling club socials,
parties and other functions.
To enforce all rules of group
riding.
To select assistants to aid in special
tasks.
To review monthly
activities.
Article 9
The duties of the Public Relations/ Market Coordinator
shall be:
To promote and handle all advertisements
pertaining to the club and its
events.
To coordinate with local merchants and
city officials in sponsoring selected club
events.
To coordinate and arrange for guest
speakers to appear at scheduled club
meetings.
To coordinate and arrange meeting places
for club social events as ordered by the
club.
To select assistants to aid in special
tasks.
Article 10
The duties of the Executive Board shall
be:
To act for the club in all matters
ordered by the club.
To make recommendations regarding member
expulsions.
To properly investigate & present to
the club all business or important activity
situations.
To have general control over all cub
affairs.
Article 11
All executive offices shall be voted on during the
month of October, taking office in January. All officers shall hold
office for one year unless re-elected for another term or until
their successors are elected and qualified. Only one family member
may serve on the Executive Board per term. Only active members in
good standing for one year shall be eligible to hold office in the
club.
Article 12
The regular meeting of the club shall be held monthly,
but the President of the Executive Board may call a special meeting
at any time by advance notice.
Article 13
At least 25% of active members in good standing shall
constitute a quorum for transaction of club business at a scheduled
meeting.
Article 14
The constitution may be amended or added to, providing
the proposed amendment is submitted in writing at a regular meeting.
It shall be advertised in the next monthly newsletter and voted on
at the next meeting. A two-thirds vote of active members present in
good standing shall be required to pass an
amendment.
