perfect attendance.
GREETINGS! February brings the promise of
warmerÉi.e. riding weatherÉahead!
In looking back, however, weÕve had it pretty good these past couple of
months with just about every weekend having at least one good riding day. Just a couple of weeks ago several of
us took a very enjoyable ride through Pine Mountain, Harris and Troup counties
stopping at Peppermill Grill for dinner.
All in 60 degree weather!
And it only promises to get better!
Hope you
can all make it to the February meeting as we have a few very important items
to discuss and vote on. Chris will
be giving us an update on the website and when you see it I think you are going
to be very pleased. And by the
way, thank you for your enthusiastic support for the website proposal at the
last meeting. This really is the
way of the future and our club needs to keep pace. The website is an excellent way to communicate and publicize
ourselves in the community generating potential member interest and good public
relations. We also need to decide
on a change in meeting night, which will help, I feel, minimize conflicts with
our members and therefore maximize participation, which is my ultimate goal for
our club.
REMINDER: If you have not already paid your
club dues please do so as soon as possible. Submit your payment to Mary Fiske and enjoy another year with the
Club!
In less than a month we begin a very
busy ride schedule starting with Bike Week. So shine your saddles up cowboys and girls and get ready to
RIDE. Susan and I are really
looking forward to a very active and fun year with our friends in the
Club.
RIDE ONÉ..

Thanks to
all of those who supported my proposal for a club website which I presented at
the January club meeting. Although
I promised a prototype by March, bad weather and cold temperatures conspired to
keep me inside for most of January, so I was able to spend plenty of time on
the website.
The VMTA is
now online at www.vmtacolumbusga.org. Please visit the site and test it for
any errors. Please let me know
about any errors so I can fix them before we submit the website to the search
engines.
The website
really needs more photos. If you
have any photos of previous club activities I would really appreciate if you
could share them. Whether they are
prints or digital I can use them both (and you will get them back).
One good
thing about the website is that we are no longer constrained to the 12 pages of
the newsletter. You can write as
much as you want about our rides and events now. However, if we start to hit up against the 12 page limit I
will shorten your submission to fit the printed newsletter and note that the
full version is available online.
In
addition, since the web site is open to the world, I plan to tighten up on
grammatical errors. I wonÕt change
the meaning of the article, but I may change obvious errors that I never
worried about in the past. As
always, artistic license and any colloquialisms are welcome.
